With the FMJH Care program, the FMJH wishes to pay attention to the social diversity and parity of the young mathematical talent it seeks to attract and support in the training programs within the Paris-Saclay perimeter.
This program was born out of the realization that, every year, highly-qualified students from abroad have to give up studying mathematics in France for financial reasons, and that a number of young women find it hard to see a future in mathematics as possible. The FMJH wishes to support and encourage these students at master's level, as it has always done on the basis of excellence with the Sophie Germain scholarships, but also from undergraduate level. The aim is to give them easier access to mathematics courses on the Paris-Saclay Campus, and to help them build their training plans.
Several actions are proposed:
In favour of social diversity
- Incoming mobility scholarships for students at Bachelor's or Master's level, awarded on the basis of excellence and social criteria ;
- Outgoing mobility grants for students at Master's level for research internships abroad or gap-year projects, awarded on the basis of excellence and social criteria.
In favor of gender equality
- Maryam Mirzakhani Junior Prize for the first research project by a female L3 or M1 student from the Paris-Saclay area ;
- Mentoring support for young women in L3 mathematics courses within the Paris-Saclay perimeter ;
- Women in mathematics scholarships, to encourage young women to embark on studies leading to research in mathematics from L3 level upwards.
