The link with SLMath
SLMath (formerly MSRI) needs no introduction. This prestigious institute, located since 1985 on the hills above Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay, welcomes researchers from around the world year after year to celebrate the joy of doing and sharing mathematics.
In particular, SLMath runs a program of summer graduate schools. Some are held at Berkeley, while others are co-organized around the world in collaboration with partner institutions. The FMJH has thus maintained a relationship with SLMath since 2025 and organized a summer school at the Orsay Institute of Mathematics on local limits of random graphs, which is part of SLMath’s summer graduate school program.
The connection established with SLMath on that occasion enabled the FMJH to successfully apply to become an academic sponsor of SLMath. This status allows the FMJH to offer three students the opportunity, upon completion of their master’s degree, to participate in one of the summer schools of their choice from among the ten or so organized (or co-organized) annually by SLMath.
