    Agreements with China

The FMJH has signed very similar agreements with two Chinese universities: USTC in Hefei and Beihang university in Beijing. In both cases, the aim is to integrate Chinese undergraduates in mathematics from these two universities into the FMJH's Sophie Germain scholarship program each year, with strong involvement from the Chinese side both in the selection process and in terms of financial support. In both cases, colleagues from Paris-Saclay are also involved in teaching mathematics during the Bachelor's program in China. The agreement with USTC is part of a tripartite convention with the FSMP, while the agreement with Beihang concerns only the FMJH. The aim in both cases is to take all the students involved on to a doctorate in mathematics in France.

    The Chinese-French class

The FMJH is a co-signer with the FSMP of an agreement with the University of Hefei (USTC) to host students from the Sino-French class in Paris (in a broader sense, covering the Paris-Saclay campus) at master's and doctoral level: http://cfmath.ustc.edu.cn/main.htm

The existence of this class and of this agreement (which was renewed on October 26, 2023) is largely due to the joint work and determination of Xiaonan Ma (professor at Université Paris-Cité) and Xinan Ma (professor at USTC).

Let's hope that this agreement will benefit young Chinese mathematicians who, in due course, like the Ma brothers, will also be able to strengthen the links between the Chinese and French mathematical communities.

    The agreement with Beihang university

The agreement with Beihang is very similar in spirit to the one signed with USTC. It owes much to the local involvement of Xiangyu Liang, who teaches mathematics at Beihang and who completed her doctorate at Orsay under the supervision of Guy David. As is the case in Hefei, several colleagues from Paris-Saclay University regularly give courses in Beijing, thus strengthening links with Beihang University and facilitating the assessment of students wishing to pursue a master's degree at Paris-Saclay University. Under this agreement, the first students will be recruited in the Paris-Saclay master's program in 2026.
