  • Math&AI in Paris

The Math&AI in Paris project is a federative scientific project in the field of mathematics at the interface with artificial intelligence. It is initiated and supported by the FMJH and the FSMP (Fondation des Sciences Mathématiques de Paris). Mathematics has a role to play in addressing future challenges in AI, and the idea is to make the Paris region a true center for mathematics and AI, with a voice in the international arena and the capacity to dialogue with major international centers.

    A common platform

The math-ia.fr platform is the showcase for Math&AI in Paris. It features a wide range of training courses, thesis and post-doc opportunities, and news and events related to mathematics for AI in the Paris region.

    ClusterIA support

The ClusterIA call for proposals provides substantial funding for AI initiatives in France. To finance Math&AI in Paris activities, both the FMJH and the FSMP rely on the support of  clusters in the Ile-de-France region that are winners of this national call.  The FMJH is a partner of the DataIA cluster, led by the University of Paris-Saclay, while the FSMP is a partner of the PostGenAI@Paris cluster, led by Sorbonne University.
These projects benefit from government funding managed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche under the France 2030 program.

PhD grants in Mathematics and AI

The Math&AI in Paris project will provide at least 5 PhD grants* over five years for theses in mathematics applied to AI. This funding is in addition to the two foundations' contributions to the doctoral schools in their respective areas. Candidates will be selected by the FSMP and FMJH through their respective doctoral schools. There is no specific application procedure. For the FMJH, the doctoral school concerned is the EDMH.

*To date, 3 PhD grants financed by PostGen@AI and 2 by DATAIA are guaranteed.
