Graduation Ceremony 2021

The graduates of the 2019/2020 Master's in Mathematics and Applications were invited to their Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, September 11, organized by the Graduate School of Mathematics, in the beautiful Michelin Amphitheatre of CentraleSupelec.

More than 400 people, families and happy graduates, were welcomed with music in the early afternoon. Sylvie Retailleau, President of the University of Paris-Saclay, introduced the ceremony by congratulating the brilliant mathematicians of tomorrow.

She was joined by Pierre Pansu, Director of the Graduate School of Mathematics, and Nicolas Perrin, Deputy Director of Education at the Graduate School of Mathematics, who spoke to emphasize the importance of mathematics in the challenges of our contemporary world.

The sponsor of the ceremony, Isabelle Gallagher, Professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris, recounted her career with words that touched the young graduates: hesitation in choosing her path, the difficulty of full-time research, a balance to be found through collaborations, by teaching, by being curious about everything.

Christophe Giraud, Head of the Master's Degree in Mathematics and Applications of the Graduate School of Mathematics, master of this ceremony, invited each graduate to come down on stage to take part in the group photo of his or her class.

Monica Garcia, graduate of the Analysis, Arithmetic, Geometry track, Lucas De Lara, graduate of the Mathematics of Randomness track, and Émilie Tezenas Du Montcel, graduate of the Mathematics of Life track, gave moving testimonies and anecdotes to tell us about this year of M2, which was so special for them.

The ceremony ended with the traditional scarf throwing, filled with joy and pride.

The party continued around a drink, with individual photo sessions.

See you in early 2022 for the next ceremony!
